[Brand Story]
Kim Seok-bin Pottery was founded in 2009 by ceramic artist Kim Seok-bin, who drew on diverse experiences with organizations such as the "Korea Ceramic Foundation," "Korea Institute of Ceramic Engineering and Technology," and "Wooyilyo (Tojeon Kim Ik-young)." The brand debuted with the Sonagi Line and Blue Line series, which used cobalt. The main headquarters and production line are located in Icheon, Gyeonggi Province. Kim Seok-bin Pottery creates various ceramic canvases, transforming pottery into more than just tableware, but into an experience where the plating itself becomes part of the enjoyment.
[Description]
Clay holds the power to prove its originality through the traces of time. It undergoes countless carvings and refinements, not in pursuit of perfection but as part of an ongoing journey toward completion. Within this process, there is a quiet wholeness, offering moments of healing and solace. The artist continually explores various textural expressions, aiming to translate traces into tangible surfaces. Through objects and tableware, the work seeks to evoke a sense of familiar comfort while also engaging the viewer in an interactive experience. The cobalt lines accentuating the form and the deliberate negative space left on the surface create a sketch-like visualization, much like an unfinished painting. This approach stimulates the imagination, encouraging a dialogue between the artist’s vision and the user's perception. By allowing the user's senses to complete the work, the piece aspires to be more than just tableware—it hopes to be recognized as a "food canvas," where everyday life and artistic expression merge to create a new kind of shared experience.
